‘Animal’ grabs award from MedFilm Festival in Italy

‘Animal’ wins innovative short film award from MedFilm Festival in Italy.

Iranian short film ‘Animal’ has succeeded to receive Cervantes Rome Award for most innovative short film from the 23rd edition of MedFilm Festival in Italy.

The jury panel of the Italian festival Issued a statement that reads “this short film depicts an ancient, mythic idea with a contemporary significance and shows humanity’s despairing conditions and inevitable situations to its animal nature. ‘Animal’ shows human attempt to change the unchangeable.’

Co-directed by filmmakers Bahram and Bahman Ark, ‘Animal’ depicts the story of a man who wants to pass the border illegally; so he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

 Founded in 1995 in the Italian capital city of Rome, the MedFilm Festival focuses on giving voice and visibility to independent movies. It is also the only Italian film festival specialized on Euro-Mediterranean movie productions, aiming to encourage mutual knowledge and inter-cultural dialogue between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

The 23rd edition of MedFilm Festival was held from 10-18 November in Rome, Italy.
